School Uniform

At More House School, some parts of our school uniform reflect pupils’ houses. Our 4 school houses and their associated colours are:

Please see below a list of school uniform for each year group.
Please ensure that every item of school uniform and PE kit are clearly labelled with your son’s name.

  • Blue MHS polo-shirt with embroidered school crest (surrounded by house-colour circle) 
  • Charcoal-grey or black trousers 
  • Navy blue V-neck jumper with embroidered school crest 
  • Black or dark-grey socks 
  • Plain black leather/leather-style school shoes. Plain black trainer-style shoes with black soles are also permitted but must not display logos or additional colours
  • Black Nike Air Force One trainers, Vans and canvas shoes, or any coloured or black branded trainers are NOT allowed
  • More House School coat (optional)  
  • Navy-blue blazer, single-breasted with silver buttons (optional) 
  • Navy blue V-neck jumper with embroidered school crest 
  • White formal long or short-sleeved shirt and school house-tie (coloured stripes dependent upon allocated house) 
  • Charcoal-grey or black trousers (no logos or branding)
  • Black or dark-grey socks 
  • Plain black leather/leather-style school shoes. Plain black trainer-style shoes with black soles are also permitted but must not display logos or additional colours
  • Black Nike Air Force One trainers, Vans and canvas shoes, or any coloured or black branded trainers are NOT allowed
  • More House School dark-blue coat 
  • Navy-blue blazer, single-breasted with silver buttons 
  • School House Ties:
    These can be purchased from Stevensons at a cost of £12.50 but we also hold stock in the school office at the cheaper price of £11.50.  If you would like a new or replacement tie from us, please email [email protected] with your order and pay either using the website’s online payments or by telephoning the Bursary: 01252 792303 (option 3). 

‘Normal’ School Days: 

  • A shirt with collar that is not conspicuously branded
  • Smart, chino style or tailored trousers
  • Black or brown polished smart leather/leather-style shoes. Plain black trainer-style shoes with black soles are also permitted but must not display logos or additional colours

Formal Occasions: 

  • Lounge suit with shirt and school house-tie (coloured stripes dependent upon allocated house), and polished leather shoes. 

Prohibited: 

  • Jeans, combat trousers or tracksuit bottoms (unless for a sporting event)
  • Sweatshirts or hoodies (zip-up / pull-over)
  • Vests or t-shirts (unless underneath a shirt)
  • Clothing printed with a sports team name, large logos/branding or offensive slogans
  • Jewellery or make-up
  • Black Nike Air Force One trainers, Vans, canvas shoes, or any coloured or black branded trainers

Indoor: 

  • MHS House polo shirt 
  • MHS navy shorts 
  • MHS socks 
  • Non-marking trainers 
  • More House Sports Bag 

Outdoor:

  • Football boots (can be moulded or with metal studs) 

Swimming: 

  • Blue swimming shorts/trunks

  • Swimming goggles (optional) 
  • Water-resistant footwear such as flip-flops 

If opting for specific sports, the following extra items of PE kit may be required, and PE teachers will inform you if so: 

  • Michaelmas Term – Shin pads if playing football 
  • Lent Term – Gumshields and shin pads if playing hockey 
  • Lent Term – Gumshields if playing rugby 
  • Trinity Term – Cricket bags if playing cricket 

 

Pupils are not permitted to wear finger-rings or other jewellery, and pupils’ hair may not be coloured. Pupils with long hair must carry with them a hairband to enable them to tie their hair back when requested; for example, during a practical activity. 

Piercings 
Please be aware that no pupil is permitted to wear a piercing of any kind while at school. This includes ear piercings. If a piercing is worn, its removal will be requested immediately by the staff member challenging the incorrect uniform. If a pupil is unable to remove the said item, he will be supported by a staff member in a separate location to that of his peers until the issue is resolved. The wearing of transparent ‘spacers’ in place of a metal or coloured piercing is also not permitted, for any reason.

Second-Hand Uniform

The Friends of More House (PTA) sell second-hand uniform from ‘the shed’ located directly behind Main House. It is open on the first and last Friday of every month from 3.45pm to 4.30pm. Please contact Heather Shepherd via Classlist for more information. When collecting second hand uniform, please come into Main Reception upon arrival to let a member of staff know that you are on-site and receive further instructions. 

Registration for September 2027 is now open!

Registration for enrolment in September 2027 is now open. Please complete the Registration Form on the Admissions page of our website to reserve a space for your son. A very limited number of places are still available in Year 7 for September 2026 entry. Please call the Admissions Office for more information: 01252 792 303 (option 4).
