Are you considering More House School for your son?

We recommend that all parents and families considering an application to join More House School attend one of our Open Days, held each academic year in September and March.

During the day, you will hear from key members of staff about our mission and educational approach. We will explain our specialist teaching and learning methods, exceptional boarding provision, pastoral care, and extensive enrichment and co-curricular opportunities. Following this, you will meet some of our wonderful pupils and enjoy a guided tour of the school site, including our classrooms, therapy areas, boarding houses, and wider facilities. You will also have the opportunity to ask our pupils questions and gain insight into what life is like at More House School.

Open Days offer the ideal opportunity to learn more about our transformative education and how we empower pupils to become independent learners, ready to lead aspirational futures.

Particular thanks should go to the two students who hosted us. They were extremely impressive young men who were friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. They were a great credit to themselves, their families and also the school. Every other student we encountered was equally welcoming and, although I'm sure you hear this frequently, they contribute to an impressive vision of More House.

My husband and I were so impressed and couldn’t speak more highly of everyone we met and spoke to. Special thanks to [the pupils] who showed us round, such lovely young men, who had excellent knowledge and a real pride in their school.

…There’s something about seeing the school like that — doing its “school things” — that resets my energy as a parent. It reminds me what we’re part of. Reminds me how hard everyone is working (often on things no one sees) to help all the boys, not just the easy ones. And it reminds me that I fought for my children to be here. And I was right to.

We are delighted to be hosting a Sixth Form Open Event, providing potential students and their parents an opportunity to learn about More House School and its excellent Sixth Form provision.

Our Sixth Form provision was graded ‘Exceptional’ by Ofsted earlier this year with inspectors highlighting that: “Students in the sixth form become confident, ambitious young adults because the post‑16 provision offers the perfect mix of independence, challenge and personalised support.”

More House School supports boys with Dylexia, Developmental Language Disorder and other literacy and language-related SEND to make fantastic personal development, and achieve remarkable social and academic success.

We look forward to welcoming you on 30^th June.

Booking for external candidates is now open!

All bookings must be made online via Eventbrite.

Current parents will be contacted separately regarding how to register their attendance.

What to expect on the day…

External Year 10 pupils and their families:

Arrival time: 2pm.

External pupils and their families will be welcomed by More House staff before being taken on guided tours of the school site and facilities by our current Year 12 pupils.

Current More House Year 10 pupils and families:

Arrival time: 3pm.

Current Year 10 pupils and their families should arrive an hour later for the Sixth Form Information Session talk.

Parents will receive more detail communications about this event from the Head of Sixth Form at the beginning of June.

Sixth Form Talk

At 3pm, the Head of Sixth Form, along with other members of staff, will outline the Sixth Form provision at More House School and explain the Admissions process for entry in September 2027.

End Time

The Information Session will finish at 4pm.

Like many in his cohort, my son had been struggling through mainstream school and by GCSE he had little confidence and had learnt to keep his head down and engage as little as possible. So we were looking for an alternative for Sixth Form where he could be better understood. He joined the Foundation Year, which gave him time to settle in before the big push for A-Levels and BTECs... More House provides a far broader education than simply exam achievement, with an environment that is hugely supportive and caring whilst also teaching the boys independence and self-esteem. The dedicated and supportive staff have been an inspiration and we believe have had a major impact on our son's life trajectory, as it has with so many of the boys.

How can I book to attend an Open Day?

Booking online only

All bookings for our Open Days must be made online via Eventbrite, we cannot accept bookings over the phone. Our Open Days are very popular, so booking is essential. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate additional or ad-hoc visitors on the day.

The entry points for admission to More House School are:

Years 4-7

Year 12 (Lower Sixth Form)

Places in Years 8 & 9 are rare. We do not accept any applications for Years 10, 11 or 13 (Upper Sixth Form).
