The best way to understand boarding at More House is to hear from those who have experienced it first-hand. We are proud of the lasting impact our boarding experience has – not just for our students, but for their families too. Here is a selection of feedback from our boarding community:
From our boarders:
“When I first moved to More House boarding in Year 5, I was very nervous since it was a whole new school, and I didn’t have any friends coming here. The staff were very welcoming, and even though I was extremely nervous and find change very difficult sometimes, they sat me down and talked to me about how life works in boarding school here, and I became very relaxed. “
“Boarding has given me a family.”
“Boarding helps us be more independent, including teaching us how to make a cup of tea! I’ve enjoyed being able to participate in clubs before and after school. This has been the first school I stayed at for more than 3 years and boarding since Year 6 has been amazing. It has given me a real sense of independence, especially since lock-down. It’s helped me build my social skills. Boarding has been an adventurous way of helping me learn new skills.”
“A great, comfortable environment when you have to be away from home for school.”
From the parents of boarders:
“He was so excited. It is so wonderful to see [my son] throwing himself into the life of More House. He has always lived life under the radar, so we are extremely proud and so grateful of the opportunities More House School are giving him. I am excited for his future with you, thanks again.”
“Thank you for helping to create such a warm, disciplined and positive environment for [my son] to be able to flourish.”
“I am really glad that you see [my son] as an asset to your boarding community.”
“For [my son] to have settled in so well is testament to the excellent support that you and your team in boarding provide.”
“The social, emotional, communication and behaviour skills [my son] was learning in LDC are now being implemented in a generalised environment (not only a therapeutic session) with his peers. At home it is much harder to do this, as his peer group isn’t around. This has had a very positive impact on his progress and wellbeing.”
“Boarding has helped [my son’s] confidence. It is great that he has prep time at school now enjoys bedtime story time! No request has been too much. He loves the routine and physical business of boarding.”
“Boarding has helped [my son] develop his social skills, personal care, and daily routines. This has been especially valuable as he struggles a lot with executive functioning.”
