Training & Outreach

Welcome to More House School’s Training & Outreach programme. Here, we explain our school’s mission to lead in providing high-quality inclusive education for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). If you are an educational professional or establishment supporting children and young people with SEND, please explore this section to learn about our evidence-based approach to teaching and learning and the various training and development opportunities we provide for those in independent and state-maintained settings.

If it works for pupils with SEND at More House, it can work for pupils with SEND beyond our gates.

This starting point has driven our focus outside our own school gates to work with hundreds of other settings, to help them improve their support of children and young people with SEND. Our aim is to inspire, resource and empower as many settings as we possibly can; to provide an approach that works brilliantly for children and young people with SEND. More House as a school does a fantastic job but it is still only for a few individuals in the vast ocean of profound need for SEND support throughout the UK and beyond.

We are leading the charge for high-quality SEND education, which works so effectively that pupils in the same classes without SEND diagnoses are stretched, challenged and achieve greater outcomes as well.

To this end, we work relentlessly to continue developing our online and in-person training to make available our ‘Learning Beyond the Label’ approach, ‘Class Mapping Tool’ resources and more to as many contexts as possible. We partner with universities to rigorously test and research our approach, ensuring that everything we suggest to other schools is evidence-based. We collaborate across phases and sectors, with schools, groups of schools, local authorities, alternative providers and more, to work out the best way to impact the quality of teaching and learning, to restore confidence to teachers and to reorientate the focus of SEND expertise back into the classroom.

Alongside our ready-to-access nationally-accredited online courses, we deliver regular ‘Spotlight’ webinars for SENCOs, teachers and TAs, run by More House practitioners keen to share what works. Our annual Adaptive Teaching Conference, hosted by Charterhouse School, brings up-to-date academic research and effective in-school practice together to powerfully challenge practice share updates.

More House School’s conference speakers, consultancy conversations and projects, school visits, workshops, INSET talks and more, have excited and equipped individuals and teams within schools; empowering and upskilling those who are determined to make significant headway in their provision of high-quality SEND education for their pupils.

If you have not yet discovered ‘Learning Beyond the Label’ and the ‘Class Mapping Tool’, get in touch with [email protected] or explore the sub-pages within this section to find out more. We want to know what works for you already, to share best practice and develop our approach so that as many as possible can benefit.
