Further information about school fees

We understand the current budget pressures faced by Local Authorities and self-funding families. As More House School is a not-for-profit organisation, our business model allows us to offer outstanding value for money. Furthermore, while many specialist schools charge additional fees for therapy and literacy support, these services are included within our core costs. According to a recent Freedom of Information (FOI) request, we remain in the lowest 30% of independent school fees in the south of the UK.

  • All fees are set annually by the Board of Governors.
  • All fees listed above are termly, and payable at the beginning of each term.
  • School fees include timetabled therapeutic intervention and Literacy or Numeracy support, delivered through the Learning Development Centre.
  • Examination fees are not included in the fees stated and are payable by parents.
  • Junior Years fees apply to all pupils in academic Years 4, 5 and 6.
  • Middle Years fees apply to all pupils in academic Years 7 and 8.
  • Senior Years fees apply to all pupils in academic Years 9, 10 and 11.
  • Sixth Form fees apply to all pupils in Year 12 (Lower Sixth) and Year 13 (Upper Sixth).
  • For entry part way through an academic year, School and Boarding fees are charged pro rata.

Bursaries

At More House School, we are committed to widening access to an exceptional education while supporting every family in our community. Our means-tested bursaries are assessed on a termly basis and can offer partial assistance for prospective families. We also recognise that circumstances may change, and hardship support is available to ensure continuity and stability for current pupils. Every application is considered with care, sensitivity, and discretion, enabling each boy to thrive and flourish within our inclusive, aspirational community.

Welcoming Forces Families

Boarding is at the heart of our school community and is available to pupils aged 10 and up. Many choose full (termly) boarding and stay at school seven days a week, leaving only for Exeat weekends (all boarders go home for the weekend once each half-term) and school holidays. Termly boarders experience the full benefit of our bespoke and transformative boarding provision.

Our boarding community is a trusted home-from-home for families in the Armed Forces, offering stability, continuity of education, a strong pastoral network and specialist SEND expertise.

Funding support for Forces Families

The MoD may support boarding school fees for eligible personnel through the Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA). The CEA typically contributes towards boarding school fees, with families also paying a contribution. The allowance helps to ensure children can remain in one school despite changes in their family’s location.
Families should check regulations to see whether they are eligible. For full eligibility details, families should refer to official MoD policy/guidance or speak with their unit administrative office.
The Continuity Education Advisory Service (CEAS) provides information and advice to Forces families in all three services and eligible MoD civilians regarding education for their children in the UK. Visit the CEAS website to find out more: https://www.gov.uk/government/groups/the-childrens-education-advisory-service-ceas
