On Friday 22nd November, More House School was heavily involved in the national SEND conference for the independent sector, in central London.
Eleanor Margesson (Assistant Head – Training & Outreach) delivered a seminar on ‘Executive Function and ADHD – classroom strategies and support. It was standing room only by the time the session began, with people even sitting on the floor to avoid missing out! It went down extremely well with delegates, and we fear the [email protected] email inbox will be overwhelmed for the coming days.
In particular, the Class Mapping Tool, designed by Eleanor in response to the University of Cambridge’s CALM research (Centre for Attention, Learning and Memory), was extremely popular. In the afternoon, Professor Joni Holmes gave a key-note address to all delegates, and referenced More House’s innovative work, and the university’s use of the More House Class Mapping Tool in continued research conducted by the University of East Anglia, whose students are using the tool in school classrooms.
Professor Joni was a key-note speaker at last year’s Adaptive Teaching Conference run by More House School and Charterhouse School and will be giving an update on the CALM research, alongside her colleague Dr Elizabeth Byrne, at the 2025 Adaptive Teaching Conference on Tuesday 11th March.
Mr Hetherington (Headmaster) was at the conference and said how exciting it was to witness More House being so frequently mentioned as a leader in the field of adaptive teaching and beyond-the-label support of children with SEND.
