MHS Catering – nutritious, environmentally conscious & award-winning!

As many of the pupils at More House School in Frensham will tell you, food is more than just fuel for the day—it is an integral part of school and boarding life. The school takes pride in offering excellent catering that blends new ideas with traditional touches, ensuring every meal is exciting and nourishing. Using the finest British ingredients, the Catering Team promotes a healthy lifestyle and encourages pupils to explore new flavours.

This commitment to excellence was recently recognised when the Catering Team won the Holroyd Howe Food Excellence Award 2025!

Pupils enjoy three freshly prepared meals each day, with lunch provided for all, and breakfast and dinner for the boarding community. And it’s not just the everyday meals—throughout the year, special lunches mark occasions like World Book Day and Chinese New Year, while boarders often enjoy outdoor summer barbeques, and themed dinners and treat nights.

Beyond mealtimes, the Catering Team collaborates with teachers and therapeutic staff to enrich pupils’ experiences. Through the Flexi Friday programme and evening sessions for the boarders, cooking and baking workshops introduce students to new ingredients and new skills. Baking, pizza making and sushi masterclasses have proven especially popular, offering a fun and interactive way to learn about global cuisines and develop useful life skills.

Innovation also extends to sustainability. Last half-term, More House embraced the six-week School Food Waste Challenge 2025. Tablets were installed in the dining hall, inviting pupils to answer some questions about what they ate, how much they ate and why. The aim of this initiative is to help our school to reduce waste, better understand meal sizes and more.

This focus on quality, variety and sustainability ensures that catering at More House continues to meet the highest standards expected from the independent school community.
