For our Flexi Friday, the fantastic Forensic Experience visited our school. Hayley, an ex-Crime Scene Investigator, left the front line working alongside the Met. Police to start her own business running workshops for school, clubs and team building events, winning several awards along the way. She again put on a fantastic workshop for all the students in Year 7.
The Science Department joined in the theme with lessons on DNA extraction, fingerprints, analysing which white powder was aspirin, and finding who wrote the letter by doing chromatography on inks.

The boys loved dressing up in the white suits and finding fingerprints and other evidence. They had a great day all round. It is a brilliant experience to get a little window into the importance and uses of science in the wider world.
Special thanks need to go to the Science Prep Room Team who provided excellent resources for everyone throughout the day.
