The school provides a uniquely welcoming, inclusive and friendly learning environment to all the boys; the small classes make it easy for them to make friends at whatever stage they start at the school. MHS is also unique in the high levels of academic and pastoral support it provides. The teaching and learning support staff know intrinsically how to get the best out of every pupil, treating each as an individual with a clear understanding of each boy’s different educational needs. By using sensitive and effective specialist teaching methods which are integrated across the entire curriculum, they ensure that pupil aspirations are achieved. We were unsure as to what our son was capable of achieving when he started More House. Ten years later, he had gained the confidence to stand on a stage in front of a large audience to give a speech on Founder’s Day and left the school with a string of GCSEs and 3 ‘A’ levels with excellent grades because of the support he had received there.

Beyond academics, More House encourages its pupils to participate in a wide range of co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities that appeal to everyone to expand the boys’ interests and develop their self-confidence. There are so many opportunities on offer, from the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and a variety of sports and social clubs to competing in national STEM problem solving and product design team challenges. These opportunities really helped improve my son’s confidence as is now evident by his enthusiastic participation in a variety of different clubs and societies at university.
