2025 Dyslexia Football Tournament
Excitement and Triumph at the U13 National Dyslexia Football Tournament 2025
The 2025 U13 National Dyslexia Football Tournament was a resounding success, celebrating over 20 years of passion, dedication, and sporting spirit from specialist SEND schools across the country. With schools from London, Hampshire, and Surrey coming together for this exciting 9-a-side competition, the tournament showcased some amazing young footballing talent.
The teams played their way through group stages, knockout rounds, and high-stakes finals. It was an action-packed day full of intense matches, plenty of goals, and lots of memorable moments.
More House entered two teams into the competition this year following a cancellation by a visiting school. MH-A showed their strength and skill early on, winning most of their group matches, with the exception of a narrow defeat to Kingswood House, who finished top of their group.
The Cup semi-finals were a true test of willpower and ability. MH-A faced a formidable challenge against Fairley House, but their determination shone through. After a hard-fought game, the boys emerged victorious with a 2-0 win, securing their place in the Cup final.
Meanwhile, MH-B faced off against the unbeaten Kingswood House, the defending champions from last year. The match started with a bang - MH-B scored a brilliant goal just 15 seconds into the game, a long-range shot that found the bottom corner of the net. With the momentum on their side, the boys scored again in the second half, sealing their place in the final and setting up an all-More House showdown for the Cup!
Before the main event, Knowl Hill and Moon Hall faced off in the Plate final. Despite heavy pressure from Moon Hall, Knowl Hill held strong. After a deflected goal, they took the lead and fought hard to maintain it. Moon Hall pushed until the final whistle, but in the end, Knowl Hill emerged as the Plate winners.
MH-A and MH-B had spectators on the edge of their seats as they competed in a highly anticipated final. The match was a testament to the hard work and skill of all the players involved, with both teams creating several chances to score. In the end, MH-A triumphed as Cup winners with a fantastic 3-0 win.
The Dyslexia Football Tournaments are not only about the final results - they showcase the true spirit of football: teamwork, resilience, and mutual respect. Every team displayed incredible sportsmanship and came together to make the day a success.
Congratulations to More House A, the Cup winners, and Knowl Hill, the Plate winners. But most of all, well done to all who took part.
We can’t wait to see what next year’s tournament brings!
At More House School, we recognise the importance of sport in promoting health, well-being, and personal development. Our goal is to offer a comprehensive sports programme tailored to the needs and interests of our pupils, ensuring that everyone can participate and develop athletic skills, leadership abilities, confidence, and resilience. Sport has also been shown to help reduce anxiety, improve focus, and encourage teamwork, especially for students with developmental language disorders and ADHD. The Dyslexia Football Tournament is an excellent example of such an opportunity for our pupils.
