Hollywood filmmaker shares words of inspiration with More House School
Drew Pearce, British screenwriter, director and producer recently shared his experiences and advice for overcoming adversity and striving for success with the pupils of More House School, Frensham.
Drew sent over a video from his home in LA with a message for senior school pupils during their assembly, encouraging them to work hard and never stop striving for success.
Don’t let anything limit what you want to do with your life…
Drew’s first message was one of personal experience. He explained that whilst he is very lucky to have worked on such amazing motion picture projects as Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Iron Man 3 and the newly released The Fall Guy, everyone will face hurdles on the road to success.
Drew himself grew up in England, attended a comprehensive school and had no specific connections in the world of movies. However, with hard work and good ideas, he has entered and thrived within the industry.
Take the things you love, your hyperfixes even, or your skills and weaponise them… believe that if you love your ideas, other people might too.
Drew later shared a little about the people in his life who have overcome specific barriers posed by special educational needs on their journey to success. He spoke about the power of embracing our passions and skills and using them to our advantage, rather than letting them hinder our progress and stop us from reaching our potential.
Many of the pupils at More House School face specific challenges posed by the specific learning and language-based difficulties. Whilst pupils are supported and empowered at school to identify their strengths and interests and pursue aspirational futures, each is on his own journey to transform his future and realise his true potential. Thank you, Drew, for reminding us that if we believe in ourselves and have confidence in our ideas, others will believe in us too.
…don’t let your setbacks define you – use them as fuel to keep doing more.
